Liu Liu

Liu Liu is the first year Ph.D. student in the School of Education, studying at Education Statistics and Research Methods program. Her research interests fall into two categories: (1) methodological work involves applications of multilevel models, multivariate analysis in the design of experimental or non-experimental studies and evidence for determining the severity and scope of socio-educational issues; and, (2) propensity score matching to approximate a random experiment. She is also interested in developing and applying for various statistical modeling (e.g. longitudinal models) for better educational and scientific research.

She joined the Center for Research in Education and Social Policy (CRESP) at June, 2019. She works at CRESP to support data collection, organization, and data analysis efforts under the guidance and support of senior staff for IES-Center for Research Use in Education (CRUE

Carly Hill

Carly Hill is a Research Associate II in the School of Education at both the Center for Research in Education and Social Policy (CRESP) and the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Carly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences with a concentration in Medical Social Services at the University of Delaware. Her research focuses on understanding and addressing associations between stigma and health inequities, specifically with people living with HIV or substance use disorders. Most recently, Carly co-authored a paper on her research addressing barriers to and facilitators of care for people living with HIV in the state of Delaware.

Carly also works to support CRESP on multiple projects. Currently, she is a part of the evaluation team for the ACCEL project which is helping to advance clinical and translational research in Delaware. She also supports Delaware’s WIC clinics in implementing a new program designed to connect families of children with developmental concerns to free services.

Samantha Shewchuk, PhD

Samantha Shewchuk, Ph.D., is a Research Associate at CRESP and a senior researcher within the Center for Research Use in Education (CRUE) at the University of Delaware. Dr. Shewchuk specializes in knowledge mobilization (KMb) efforts to address the research-policy-practice gaps across public service sectors. She is Co-Principal Investigator of a $2M grant from the Gates Foundation for the CREATEd project, which seeks to activate researcher and knowledge broker networks to effectively distribute knowledge and research into use by educators. Within the CRUE portfolio, Dr. Shewchuk managed several research projects on research brokerage and the network of actors, relationships, and processes in the ‘third space’ between education research and practice.  She was previously the program manager of RIPPLE: Research Informing Policy, Practice, and Leadership in Education—a program of research aimed at learning more about how to improve linkages between researchers and decision makers in education across Ontario.

Katrina K. Morrison, EdD

Dr. Katrina K. Morrison, Ed.D. (University of Pennsylvania), is a Policy Scientist who provides leadership and support for several projects at CRESP. She serves as PI for the HRSA-funded Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) evaluation and DHSS-funded State of Our Union: Delaware Black Girls Project and is collaborating on state policy projects including DSAAPD Vaccine Access; IES College Readiness; and DDOE Stateline Opportunity to Learn. In 2018, Dr. Morrison was awarded a UD Partnership for Public Education Fellowship to conduct research on restorative practices in K-12 schools.

 

Prior to her role at CRESP, Dr. Morrison worked at RFA, where she led projects on out-of-school-time programming; arts integration in high school courses; and Delaware DPAS-II teacher and specialist evaluations. She has also served as a Data Analyst for The Civil Rights Project and Consultant for CPRE’s Discipline in School Contexts Project. She has been a Lecturer in UPenn’s MSW Program and a K-12 teacher supervisor, evaluator, and classroom teacher in the School District of Philadelphia.

 

For over 15 years, Dr. Morrison has used action research to benefit underserved communities across different systems such as education, health, and justice. In addition to her CRESP research projects, her foci include privileging the perspectives and lived experiences of students in shaping policy and practices around K-12 school climate. She also strives to bring equity and intersectional lenses to all of her projects.
